The Cat's Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash
or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations
perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.
I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts,
since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities.
However, they merely made condescending comments
about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight.
I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food.
I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies."
I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate
one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.
I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released,
and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly.
I am certain that he reports my every move.
My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe. For now ...

This is a Christmas card I made today, I am planning on making more. I used the

Z1686 Cricut® Art Philosophy Collection

for the Joy and for the little squares. I used the Wonderland for the paper and the letters.

The ribbon is also Close to My Heart. I used glass glitter that I got off of Ebay. Makes it look really sparkly. Really easy card to make.

30 Days of Handmade Gift Giving Blog Hop!

Hi everyone I hope you are enjoying all the great gift ideas, I know I am because this year in our family it will be a handmade gift type of year.
Of course there are also great handmade gifts to give to family, friends, coworkers, friends from church, teachers, babysitters, so many wonderful gifts to give that always makes someone smile.

If you are from Playing with Paper, then you are in the right spot. If you just started you can go to the beginning at The Scrapoholic. There are so many awesome ideas, plus her blog is pretty cool, well all the blogs are pretty cool.

Well my gift is fairly simply, I love Hot Chocolate and love to give some away as gifts. So I made a cute label to put on a Christmas mug to give as a gift to someone, not telling who, could be someone who is going to read this blog so I cant tell.

I used my Cricut to cut the label, I used the exclusive Close To My Heart Cricut® Art Philosophy cartridge,

You can use any thing you want to create the label or just use a card, which ever works best for you. All the papers and stamps came from the Wonderland kit.

I popped dot the mug. added a little bling.

I added the hot chocolate in a little bag, tied it with waxy flax, from CTMH, added some Cinnamon, because I love the smell of Cinnamon. I also added a ribbon to the handle. The Mug probably from the dollar store or Walmart.

Well I have made this card from a sketch that was on my friend Jann's blog I thought it was different. Well the first challenge for me was to find everything I needed.I didn't find everything but I found enough stuff. Now the details: Everything is from the Sonoma collection, except the little clip at the bottom that I used to hold the card while I photographed it and the green ribbon is from some stash I found around the house. Last weekend my friend Jann and I went to the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbooking Expo, had a lot of fun. worn out from walking to much. Probably just way out of shape, I need to walk more so I am ready for the CK Convention, which is much bigger.

Well I had fun and I bought a few things, I bought this Cuttlebug Quilling set. I only made one flower so far, Took me a little to figure it out, but I think it looks right. I guess I need to make a few more. I hope to get the other flower as well.

Well when I first saw that the challenge was for Birthday Bash I thought Yeah!! But then I didn't really like this one of the bunny, but after looking at it and deciding what to use I came up with this and thought yes I like this one and I think this will make a great Birthday card, and possible cute for an Easter Layout.

Well this weeks challenge for Flaunt It Fridays was using the cartridge Twinkle Toes, one that I do not have, surprised but I don't have all the cartridges. LOL I decided to use the Paper dolls for Every Day.

I used Close To My Heart paper, Stardust Glitz, my Gypsy, which I also used the weld the letters in Dance, which I used the Ashyn's Alphabet. Irock and Stickles.

My Favorite Thing

Well the other night at church, they had asked each of us our favorite thing or things, well I have plenty of course, I have my family and friends and all my animals. I have my Cricut, my scrapbooking supplies, my camera, my computer and all my papercraft friends. But as I was thinking I also remembered that every day I use this step stool for my feet under my work desk. This was made by my son Justin who passed away in September 2005. He made is in high school wood working class. I remember he didn't really like the teacher in this class, but I was so happy when he made this. I have this everyday to remind me that he is still here with me and I will see him again. I really miss my son Justin and really wish he didn't have to leave us at such a young age. RIP my Son Justin I love you so much.

This is my Flaunt it Friday challenge. This one was hard because I haven't used the Tags,Bags, boxes & More cartridge before. I wasn't really even sure how to find it on my Gypsy. So I found a video on YouTube, gotta love Youtube and found how to make it. I made the size to fit a gift card in it. Will make a great gift box for someone. Haven't decided yet who to give it. This picture is of a tree that was at Justin's grave the first year Christmas he was gone. My dad brought this tree home because the cemetery was going to through it away. I don't know who put it there, but I put it out with our tree at home every year to remember Justin and his friends who loved him so much. I really miss him. This was the 4th Christmas without him and the pain is still just as bad. My heart is still broken. I love you Justin and miss you so much. The picture in the background is of his brothers and his son. We dont get to see his son Brayden any more. I really miss seeing him also. It just breaks my heart that he doesnt get to see his Dad and he doesnt get to be apart of our family.

Today's picture is of my cat, we call him the OC. He is a really cool cat. One of the many things he likes today is swing, if you are sitting on the swing, he will jump up there and swing with you. he also loves to spin on the chair, he gets on the chair and sits on the chair and meows till you spin him. he is so funny. If is about 2 years old and has a brother Simon, who is white with a little black. We also have two other cats and he likes to be with Tigger, they take their naps today. So cool. Well here is a picture of him.

Today's picture is of my dog Skipper. Yesterday the pool guy said he is neurotic. I never really thought about it, but he is. He always has to have something in his mouth, shoe, stick, piece of the fence, someones body part, what ever he can find. He is a very happy dog. and very hyper. We have tried to train him, he never settles down. We take him for walks, we take him to the park and throw a ball, he runs and runs and is so tired when we get home. After five minutes at home he is up and ready again to go. He never stops. but he just loves us and all the people who give him dog treats when they walk by the side of our house. Something else is does, he is a great escape artist, now you would think when he gets loose he would run away, no not Skipper, he goes to the front door and knocks on it. Yup he doesn't leave, he will back away from the door if one of our cats are there (he is afraid). While he is out front his sister Xena starts barking, she is really good at tattling on him. She never gets loose and hates to leave the backyard with out a leash. she isn't as neurotic as he is.

Well today was a pretty busy day. Kids back in school. Yeah!! Grocery store and I also took my son to get him registered for College. I found my picture of the day there. Well there are 2 pictures. I found the sunflower and thought it looked beautiful, and I love sunflowers and I took a picture of my son Ryan while we were at the college. Both were taken with my camera on my phone and at the college. Tomorrow is work and I didn't get time to scrapbook today but am glad I did get some stuff done. Made dinner spaghetti and now I think I am going to watch a movie and relax.

Starting a new year I want to make sure I work on my scrapbooking. I really want to get caught up. I am also trying to learn how to use my Cricut and my Gypsy.
I am also going to try and take a picture a day. I am thinking this will be hard but I am going to try. I am thinking less Facebook and more other stuff. lol. I am also going to work on using my treadmill every day, even if it is for ten minutes a day. I pretty much have a lot of stuff I need to do and am going to try and work on this.

shower doors are still in the backyard waiting for husband to come home and put back in the bathroom, he told me not to touch.

My son is in 6th grade, and he is failing. He tries to do the best job he can. His biggest problem is his handwriting. The teachers wont accept his work when they cant read his handwriting. He tries and then he gets frustrated. He knows the work, or I think he does, can't really tell. I have asked for help with the teachers and the principal, they didn't really help much. He does go to after school tutoring when he isn't so upset. Usually he comes home and says he had a bad day because the teachers are mad at him. I don't want him to fail, he doesn't want to fail. I feel the teachers are failing him by not helping him. He can be very sensitive and takes this very hard. He goes to public school. All my boys have attended this school. He really wants to finish from this school as his brothers have. He does great in band, that is his favorite subject. He has a wonderful band teacher. Just cant get his other teachers to help. I don't think education has improved or changed for the better in the 20 years that I have had kids in school. It seems to be getting worse. Just not sure what to do.

The 3 year anniversary of Justin's passing is coming up, I really thought I could handle this, but I guess I am not, I am trying so hard, but I miss him so much, no one can understand unless they have been through this. I am not sure what I am doing, I am trying to deal with this, but it is so incredibly hard, I am going to grief counseling, that does help, but it brings up the emotions that I dont want to bring, I guess it is easier to just be in denial that he died. I keep playing the funeral over and over in my head, that is so hard, I just cant believe it.

HOW TO DRIVE IN PHOENIX , ARIZONA
1. "Phoenix" actually consists of Scottsdale, Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Tolleson, Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Sun City, Sun City West, Sun Lakes, Surprise, and half of the Mexican border

.2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00 am to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 9:00 PM. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.

3. The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 85 mph. On Loop 101, your speed is expected to match the highway number. Anything less is considered "Wussy".

4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Phoenix has its own version of traffic rules. For example, cars/trucks with the loudest mufflers go first at a four-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires go second. However, in the East Valley , SUV-driving, cell phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way.

5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended.

6. Never honk at anyone. Ever. Seriously. It's an offense that can get you shot.

7. Road construction is permanent in Phoenix . Detour barrels are moved around for your entertainment pleasure during the middle of the night to make the next day's driving a bit more exciting.

8. Watch carefully for road hazards such as drunks, dogs, barrels, cones, cats, mattresses, shredded tires, rabbits, vultures, javelinas, roadrunners, and the coyotes feeding on any of these items.

9. Maricopa Freeway, Papago Freeway and the "I-10" are the same road. SR202 is the same road as The Red Mountain FWY. Dunlap and Olive are the same street too. Jefferson becomes Washington , but they are not the same street. I-17 is also called The Black Canyon Freeway as well as The Veterans Memorial Highway. The SR51 has recently been renamed to Piestewa Freeway because Squaw Peak Parkway was too easy to pronounce. SR101 is also the Pima FWY except west of I-17, which is also The Black Canyon FWY, and The Veterans Memorial HWY. Lastly, Thunderbird Rd. Becomes Cactus Rd. -- but, Cactus Rd. Doesn't become Thunderbird Rd. Because it dead ends at a mountain.

10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the shoulder immediately to let them know it has been "accidentally activated."

11. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70 in a 55-65 mph zone, you are considered a road hazard and will be "flipped off" accordingly. If you return the flip, you'll be shot.

12. For summer driving, it is advisable to wear potholders on your hands.

13. Please note that there are many, MANY more issues to the phenomenon of driving in Phoenix -- like the 4-cars-through-a-red-light rule -- but these will at least get you acquainted with our unique life on the road.

I have been trying to work on a mini mint tin album, for a few weeks and I finally had the chance, I did get the template online http://blogscrapgirls.blogspot.com/2007/08/mint-tin-mania.html which helped a lot. I am just finishing the outside of the tin today, but it did take me a little longer then I thought it would, I had to first decide on pictures, then I had to decide what colors to use and what kit to use, but I think the final results came back great, not sure what my boys will think but that is there problem.

A Few Words From Tech Support

1. Don't write anything down. We can play back the error messages from here.

2. When a tech says he's coming right over, go for coffee. It's nothing to us to remember 481 screen saver passwords.

3. When you call us to have your computer moved, be sure to leave it buried under half a ton of postcards, baby pictures, stuffed animals, dried flowers, bowling trophies and Popsicle art. We don't have a life, and we find it deeply moving to catch a fleeting glimpse of yours.

4. When you call the help desk, state what you want, not what's keeping you from getting it. We don't need to know that you can't get into your mail because your computer won't power on at all.

5. Don't put your phone extension in your emails to the help desk. We need to keep an eye on the address book performance.

6. When tech support sends you an email with high importance, delete it at once. We're just testing the public groups.

7. When a tech is eating lunch in his cube, walk right in and spill your guts right out. We exist only to serve.

8. When a tech is having a smoke outside, ask him a computer question. The only reason why we smoke at all is to ferret out those clients who don't have email or a telephone line.

9. Send urgent email all in uppercase. The mail server picks it up and flags it as a rush delivery.

10. When you call a tech's direct line, press 5 to skip the bilingual greeting that says he's out of town for a week, record your message and wait exactly 24 hours before you send an email straight to the director because no one ever returned your call. After all, you're entitled to common courtesy.

11. When the photocopier doesn't work, call computer support. There's electronics in it.

12. When you're getting a NO DIAL TONE message at home, call computer support. We can fix your line from here.

13. When you have a dozen CGA monitors to get rid of, call computer support. We're collectors.

20. When a tech tells you that he'll be there shortly, reply in a scathing tone of voice: "And just how many weeks do you mean by shortly?" That'll get us going.

21. If you have a 14-inch monitor that says VGA on it, set the display to true color, 1024 x 768. You'll never again have to worry about people reading confidential files over your shoulder.

22. When we offer training on the upcoming OS upgrade, don't bother. We'll be there to hold your hand after it's done.

23. When the printer won't print, re-send the job at least 20 times. Print jobs frequently get sucked into black holes.

24. When the printer still won't print after 20 tries, send the job to all 68 printers in the building. One of them is bound to work.

36. If the space bar on your keyboard doesn't work, blame it on the mail upgrade. Keyboards are actually very happy with half a pound of muffin crumbs and nail clippings in them.

37. When you receive the new Yanni CD for your birthday, shove it into any slot on the front of your computer. We like getting physical with 5.25 floppy drives.

38. When you get a message saying "Are you sure?", click on that Yes button as fast as you can. Hell, if you weren't sure, you wouldn't be doing it, would you?

39. When you find a tech on the phone with his bank, sit uninvited on the corner of his desk and stare at him until he hangs up. We don't have any money to speak of anyway.

40. Feel perfectly free to say things like "I don't know nothing about that computer crap". We don't mind at all hearing our area of professional expertise referred to as crap.

41. When you need to change the toner cartridge, call tech support. Changing a toner cartridge is an extremely complex task, and Hewlett-Packard recommends that it be performed only by a professional engineer with a master's degree in nuclear physics.

42. When you can't find someone in the government directory, call tech support. Due to budget restrictions, we double as 411.

43. When you have a lock to pick on an old file cabinet, call tech support. We love to hack.

44. When something's the matter with your computer, ask your secretary to call the help desk. We enjoy the challenge of having to deal with a third party who doesn't know jack about the problem.

45. When you receive a 30-meg movie file, send it to everyone as a mail attachment. We got lots of disk space on that mail server.

46. Don't even think of breaking large print jobs down into smaller chunks. Somebody else might get a chance to squeeze a memo into the queue.

47. When your eyes fall on the family pictures on a tech's desk, exclaim in a flabbergasted tone of voice: "YOU have a child?!?" We need to be reminded of how lucky we were to ever have gotten laid.

48. When a tech gets on the elevator pushing 15,000 kilograms worth of computer equipment on a cart, ask in a very loud voice: "Good grief, you take the elevator to go DOWN one floor?!?" That's another one that cracks us up no end.
