Book Review: A Cowboy for Katie: A four Weddings and A Kiss Novella

A Cowboy for Katie: A Four Weddings and a Kiss NovellaA Cowboy for Katie: A Four Weddings and a Kiss Novella by Debra Clopton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Cowboy for Katie

By Debra Clopton

This story is a sweet story, starts out with a cowboy looking for some work and with Katie needing help with her ranch. She tells him that she wants to hire him to build a house for her. The people in town tell him she is crazy. Well he needs the work so he goes and decides to help her.

I really loved how this book moved right along, the characters developed quickly and I wanted to read it all in one sitting. Just an awesome sweet book about a girl in the 1885’s. Life was not easy back them.

This is a clean story which also talks about God, and how they bring them together. Very inspirational.

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest opinion.

What Amazon says the book is about:

It's 1885 and five preachers sit around a campfire out West, trading stories of unlikely couples they've seen God bring together. This is one of those stories . . .

In which Katie, who has chased off half a dozen suitors with her shotgun, hires a rambling ranch hand who's finding Katie may change his wandering ways.

Everyone in town knows Katie Pearl has no interest in getting hitched. She likes living on her own out on her departed Pa's big ranch, turning down suitors left and right--with a pistol by her side.

But when she needs a strong hand to help with rebuilding her house, Katie hires wandering cowboy Treb Rayburn, knowing he's just in town to make a quick buck and then he'll be off for parts unknown. But Treb's got a heart big as Texas. Their blossoming friendship may change her loner status and his wandering ways for good.

"A charming story filled with humor and hope that's sure to please her many fans." --Irene Hannon, best-selling author of the Guardians of Justice series (on "An Ever After Summer" in A Bride for All Seasons)

Book Review : Forever Amish: A Novel by Kate Lloyd

Forever Amish: A Novel (Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy)'
Forever Amish: A Novel by Kate Lloyd
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well this is the second Amish book I have read. The other book was not by this author and I can say I loved this story. I can’t wait to read the other two books in this series. This book is series three, I started with the last one in the series and didn’t know it was a series, you can read these as a stand-alone or read them all, and probably reading them all is the best.

Sally is engaged to be married, still lives at home with her Father, who raised her since she was an infant, no mother in the picture.  Well she needed to get away and she kept getting emails from an Amish girl in Lancaster County. The girl was interested in a puppy as Sally shows Corgi’s. So Sally decides to go visit this girl and check it out, she need some time away from everything and everyone.

I really loved the way the author wrote this story, I really wanted to know what happened to Sally and her story. I just loved how this story ties everyone together and brings everyone together.
I recommend reading this book if you love good clean books, and Amish stories. I cant wait to read the rest of the books.

Here is what Amazon.com says about the book:

It’s the Last Thing She Expects to Find

Sally Bingham needs some time away to sort through the changes in her life and to rethink her upcoming marriage. Despite her ailing father’s hesitations, she takes off for a bed and breakfast in Lancaster County for a weekend away. But her best-laid plans leave her in a near collision with a bishop’s buggy and in the home of a mysterious Amish woman named Lizzie. Lizzie introduces her to a different perspective on life, a charming farmhand named Armin— and opens a Pandora’s box that will forever change Sally’s life.

The latest book in the Legacy of Lancaster trilogy, Forever Amish introduces us to a young woman about to uncover a shocking secret and find an invitation to a new way of living. This is a story of forgiveness, legacies, and the ties that bind through generations.

Book Review; Virgin by Radhika Sanghani

VirginVirgin by Radhika Sanghani
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I received this book from Net-Galley for an honest review.

I read the book, I am much older than Ellie, who is 21 and worried about still being a virgin. She is a college student and feels she is behind all her other friends in her sex life, everyone else is enjoying sex and one night stands and she is being left out. She really hates being a virgin.
Can I relate? Possible, as it can be difficult growing up and wondering what everyone else is doing and not being like everyone else.
As for this book, I thought it was interesting, I learned some stuff that I didn’t really need to know, and possible didn’t care to know. If you’re over 40 you have to keep an open mind about this book. Since this is a Young adult book, I think many young adults would understand it. I don’t think this is a good book for a high school age girls, but that is my opinion. I did give it a 4 star rating, as it was entertaining.  I do rate this book as rated R.

What Goodreads says the book is about:

Okay, I admit it…I didn’t do it.

Yet.

This is normal, right?  I mean, just because everyone I know has talked like they’ve already done it doesn’t mean that they’re telling the truth…right?

It’s not like I’m asking for that much. I don’t need the perfect guy. I don’t need candlelight or roses. Honestly, I don’t even need a real bed.

The guys I know complain that girls are always looking for Mr. Right—do I have to wear a sign that says I’m only looking for Mr. Right Now?

Sooooo…anyone out there want sex? Anyone? Hello? Just for fun?

I am not going to die a virgin. One way or another I am going to make this happen.

Hey, what have I got to lose? Besides the obvious.

What Amazon has to say:

For those who grew up on Judy Blume—and graduated to Lena Dunham—a “hilarious”* debut...

“Bridget Jones and Carrie Bradshaw, meet your wisecracking, vagina obsessed match. Sanghani's debut is a hilarious, irreverent look at smart-alecky, painfully self-concious, 21-year-old Ellie's relentless mission to rectify a disasterous first attempt at performing oral sex, get deflowered, find the perfect Brazilian wax, avoid her tradition-bound Greek mother's nagging, graduate summa cum laude, be a writer, and fit in...This story for millennials is a wonderful blend of modern agnst with old-fashioned sweetness.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Even Bridget Jones’s Diary could take a page from this novel."—*Joan Rivers

Book Review: The Amish Blacksmith by Mindy Starns Clark

The Amish BlacksmithThe Amish Blacksmith by Mindy Starns Clark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well this is my first time reading any Amish books. When I saw it was being offered on Net Galley, I was excited to read it. This summer was the first time I have actually seen Amish country so I was really interested in reading this book.
I contemplate rather this book should be a 4 or 5 star. So I gave it a 5.
I really enjoyed reading the story of Jake and seeing things through his eyes.  I felt the characters flowed well with the story.
Jake is a 24 year old young Amish Man, he has not chosen a wife yet but he is currently courting Amanda. He is also a Blacksmith Apprentice and a horse gentler, he loves horses and has his ideas how it should be done.  He lives on a farm with a family that he does the apprentice for, he has known them for a long time. Well it seems that there niece was coming back home and she is stubborn. She is a few years younger than he is. The family ask Jake to re-introduce her to the community so she can meet some new friends.
Well the story is good, well written, didn’t bore me at all. I liked that it is a clean book, no sex, no swearing, any age can read this book.  (Young teen and up)

What Goodreads says about the book:
New from bestselling authors Mindy Starns Clark and Susan Meissner, The Amish Blacksmith (Book 2 in The Men of Lancaster County series) explores the men of an Amish community in Lancaster County, how their Amish beliefs play out in their unique roles, and the women who change their lives.

Apprenticed blacksmith Jake Miller is skeptical of Priscilla Kinsinger's innate ability to soothe troubled horses, especially when he has own ideas on how to calm them. Six years earlier, Priscilla's mother died in an awful accident at home, and Priscilla's grief over losing her mother was so intense that she was sent to live with relatives in Ohio. She has just returned to Lancaster County.

Not that her homecoming matters to Jake, who is interested in courting lighthearted Amanda Shetler. But Jake's boss is Priscilla's uncle, and when the man asks Jake to help his niece reconnect with community life, he has no choice but to do just that. Surprisingly, he finds himself slowly drawn to the beautiful but emotionally wounded Priscilla.

Jake then determines to prove to her that it's not her fault her mother died, but what he discovers will challenge everything they both believe about the depth of love and the breadth of forgiveness.
