Book Review: Come Home for Christmas, Cowboy by Megan Crane

Come Home for Christmas, Cowboy (Montana Born Christmas Book 5)Come Home for Christmas, Cowboy by Megan Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What the story is about:
Taken from Goodreads:
This Christmas season, Christina Grey Cooper has finally accepted that her marriage to her college sweetheart Dare is over.

So she packs up her things, leaves a note, and heads back home for Marietta, Montana in the hope that a Christmas with her family will help piece her head—if not her heart—back together.

Dare isn’t about to let the love of his life go, and who cares if that’s what he thought he wanted? He’ll do what it takes to win Christina back—even if that means suffering through Christmas with his in-laws, pretending to still be happily married for the sake of family harmony, and trying not to get caught up in all that holiday nonsense he’s never believed in…

But Christmas is magical, especially in Montana.

And if Dare has any hope of convincing Christina to give him one more chance, it’s going to be here…

My review of what I thought:

I felt bad for Christina, she wasn’t happy, her and her husband, Dare weren’t even talking, she was sure he was having an affair. So she packed up and moved back home. Just in time for the Christmas Holidays.

Dare comes home, sitting outside in his truck, wondering why all the lights are out, Christina always leaves a light on, and he notices she isn’t home. He is clueless, he has no idea what is going on or why would she leave him? Of course there are many reasons and he is clueless, typical male.

I feel Megan Crane hit it on the nail!!! There are so many out there that are so clueless about their relationships and just take is for granted.  I thought she did a great job in this book of slowly getting it all out and of course force the holidays on them and a true test of love. I think this was a great story and was so glad to have the opportunity to read this book.

One thing I got out of this story was not to take advantage of your relationship, you have to communicate and sometimes it take practically a knock on the head so to speak.

Great job on this book. I gave it five stars!!!

Thanks for Netgalley and Tule Publisher for let me read and give an honest opinion.

About the Author

Megan Crane is a New Jersey native who had great plans to star on Broadway, preferably in Evita, just like Patti LuPone. Sadly, her inability to wow audiences with her singing voice required a back up plan. Accordingly, she graduated from Vassar College and got her MA and PhD in literature from the University of York in England. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on AIDS literature, mostly so she could wallow in her obsession with the remarkable multi-media artist David Wojnarowicz and her idol, the bitter and hilarious David Feinberg. After many years in the rain and subject to the whim of seasons, she followed the sun to Los Angeles, where she lives with a dog, a cat, two crazy kittens, and an artist named Jeff. She is still plotting her Broadway debut

The Kidnapped Christmas Bride
By Jane Porter

I give it 5 stars

I would have to say I loved this story, it was so sweet and just made my heart melt in such a good way.

When Trey is sent away to prison for five years, McKenna tried, she has a son with Trey and it was just to hard to keep taking the baby to the prison. So she stopped going.
A year later, Trey was only in for four years, he couldn't wait to get home and see her and their son TJ. Except he came home to find out she was marrying someone else. So like any man who is in love goes to the wedding, he wants to see her before she gets married, he wants his rights as well to their son. Well the wedding didn't happen, you will have to read this sweet story to find out what happens.
Awesome story, the author did a great job.

Book Review: Her Mistletoe Cowboy by Alissa Callen

Her Mistletoe CowboyHer Mistletoe Cowboy by Alissa Callen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Her Mistletoe Cowboy
By Alissa Callen

Have I mentioned I love these Montana born cowboy books? Well I do!! The stories are awesome and sweet.

This story is about Ivy and Rhett, Ivy had enough of her corporate life and a break up with her boyfriend led her to purchase the ancestral home of her Grandfather and made arrangements to move there in Montana home for Christmas, a very cold Christmas. But she also wanted to decorate the home for Christmas. She was also told about a rancher who owned the other home on the ranch.  When she arrived at the ranch, the keyhole was frozen, so she went out walking in the cold to find the other rancher, Rhett, to help her.

Rhett was outside working and saw her walk up, she wasn’t dressed for the snow and she thought looked pregnant, but it was a puppy.  He did help her with the key and to get into the house.

I really loved the way the characters developed, I loved the fact that they each wanted something, but not from each other, Rhett wanted to prove that he can succeed at ranching. Ivy wanted to restore the home her Grandfather grew up in, and wanted to decorate the house for Christmas and do a lot of baking.  I loved the way the writer wrote the feelings Rhett had for his family, and how she showed he had feelings as well and wasn’t a bad cowboy, but that he has a heart as well.

I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more, I hope this series continues as I would love to read more about the characters and the town they live in.

This is a clean book.

I received a copy of this book from Netgally for an honest opinion.

What Goodreads says the book is about:

Corporate analyst, Ivy Bishop, intends spending Christmas holed up in an isolated Montana ranch house with only an abandoned puppy for company. When the festive season ends her broken heart might just have had just enough time to heal.

Ex-rodeo rider, Rhett Dixon, has put his playing days behind him. He has something to prove. Despite being the first son in three generations of ranchers, he is determined to succeed in ranching on his own merits.

But when Rhett’s new neighbor proves to be far-too-pretty and far-too-compassionate, his single-minded focus deserts him. And the more time Ivy spends with the workaholic, blue-eyed cowboy next door the more she realizes her heart isn’t actually broken – yet.

Book Review: Mistletoe Wedding by Melissa McClone

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am loving these Montana Born Christmas books, I can’t wait for Christmas, and these books are making me cold. As in winter cold. But warm all over with how the stories written.

I loved the characters in this story, Meg, a single mother who just wants to do her new job that she was hired for, not looking for a relationship.  Ty, the Ranch foreman isn’t looking for a relationship with a single mother.  Of course he wants to make sure that Meg and her daughter have an awesome first Christmas in Montana. You will have to read the book to see how it happens.

The story is an awesome sweet story of two people who really belong together. I loved how Melissa McClone, intertwine the story of the Montana series with this story, makes it feel like one big book. Love all the characters and how I felt like I was right there with them. I feel this is a great romance story and worth the time to read.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest opinion.

What Goodreads says the book is about:
Event planner at the Bar V5 Dude Ranch, Meg Redstone is dreaming of a white Christmas with twinkling lights, sparkly decorations and strategically placed mistletoe. She loves making dreams come true for others, whether planning a holiday wedding or giving her young daughter the best Christmas ever.

Ranch foreman Tyler Murphy loves the holidays, but his newest employee has taken over his barn with her over-the-top decorations. He admires Meg’s desire to give her daughter the perfect Christmas while planning a winter wonderland wedding, but he wants to show her that a Montana Christmas is more than glitter and lights.

After raising his younger sister, an instant family is not on Ty's Christmas wish list. But he finds himself falling hard for the single mom and her little girl. Meg, however, is not interested in a romance with a cowboy like Ty, or any man. Getting her under the mistletoe is going to take a Christmas miracle . . . or a little help from Santa

Mistletoe Wedding (Montana Born Christmas Book 2)

About the Author:

I've always been a fan of fairy tales and "happily ever afters", but I'd never read a category romance until my senior year of high school when my A.P. English teacher, Mrs. Cooper, had the class study genre fiction. She assigned each of us a Harlequin Romance to read. Mine was set in the Canary Islands and I couldn't wait to read another one. And another and another. I was hooked. Needless to say, I owe Penny Cooper a debt of gratitude. And yes, we do keep in touch!
After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in mechanical engineering, I worked for Allied Signal analyzing engine performance in Phoenix, Arizona, and my love of romance novels continued to grow. One day, I decided to write a romance of my own. Easier said than done I quickly learned, but I discovered the Desert Rose Chapter of Romance Writers of America and realized how little I knew about writing romances.
After three years in Phoenix (Tempe, actually), I began to hate the Arizona summers. Who cares if it's a dry heat? Anything over a hundred and ten is still hot. So I took at job at United Airlines in San Francisco. I was still analyzing jet engine performance, but now I had travel benefits. I spent five years traveling the globe. My love for writing romances also grew.
Writing became a passion, and the few hours spent at the computer during lunchtime and in the evenings weren't nearly enough. With lots of prodding and support from my husband of six months whom I met working at UAL, I decided to follow my dream and write full-time.
It was a good decision. My first full-time effort, FIANCE FOR THE NIGHT, was also my first sale to Silhouette Yours Truly. When I got the call that Silhouette was buying my book, I was pregnant with my first child. I was jumping up and down so much, my husband was afraid I was going to go into labor.
I moved to the Silhouette Romance line with my second sale, IF THE RING FITS. My daughter was three months old at the time and I was so tired I barely remember the phone conversation with my editor. Thank goodness my husband was home once again when the telephone rang or I might have thought I dreamed the second sale!
I sold my third book, THE WEDDING LULLABY, when I was pregnant with my second child and got a literary agent, too. I'm represented by Annelise Robey at the Jane Rotrosen Agency. I started hoping being pregnant wasn't a trend or a requirement for future sales. It wasn't even though we now have three children.
With the closing of the Silhouette Romance line, I was moved from the New York editorial office to the Harlequin Mills & Boon editorial office in London in May 2005.
I live in Washington with my real-life hero husband, two daughters, a son, lovable, but oh-so spoiled indoor cats and an adorable forty-eight pound Norwegian Elkhound who thinks she's a lap dog. I love to ski, rock climb and read!

Book Review: Blame the Mistletoe (Montana Born Christmas Book 1)

Blame The Mistletoe (Montana Born Christmas Book 1)Blame The Mistletoe by Dani Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a great idea!!! Stay at your ex’s Mother in Laws, babysitting her dog, while the ex-husband takes your daughter to a wedding with his wife and his family in Mexico for Christmas.
Liz Flowers thought is it would be a great opportunity to meet new people, but she is from California and doesn’t have much in common with the ranchers in this small town. She is invited to a party, and meets a man who looks real familiar, turns out he was married to her ex-husbands sister, who is in Mexico with the family, and his son.  Sounds confusing? It isn’t, it is a really good Novella, has some ups and downs, two people just trying to have a little uplifting Christmas that they didn’t plan on having.

The author did a great job of bringing in the Christmas spirit and the snow. This is a series but can be read alone, I love the fact that each book has something in common, the town, and the activities in town. So a wonderful sweet story.  I can’t wait to read the whole series.

This book was given to my by Netgalley for an honest review.

What Goodreads says the book is about:
Liz Flowers has never enjoyed Christmas, but this one is shaping up to be the worst by far. She let her ex take her daughter to Mexico while she stays behind in a strange town, sitting her former mother-in-law’s high strung little dog. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, but this California girl doesn’t have much in common with the ranchers in small town Marietta.

Blake Canon perks up with male interest when he sees a new face at his friend’s Christmas cocktail party. His son is away and a light affair would take his mind off his financial troubles. Then he realizes he knows Liz. She was once married to the brother of his ex-wife.

Their children might be cousins, but Blake and Liz do the kissing—under the mistletoe. It’s the beginning of a new view of Christmas for Liz, but when their children arrive home unexpectedly, and family secrets are revealed, Liz isn’t sure she’ll stay in Marietta for Christmas after all.

Book Review: An August Bride, (A Year of Weddings Novella #9)

An August Bride (A Year of Weddings, #9)An August Bride by Debra Clopton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An August Bride (A Year of Weddings 1 #9)
By Debra Clopton

This is my first time reading this series, A Year of Weddings, I really am not into weddings or reading about them, but I love this story, it is so me…. I can’t wait to read the rest and have started on another one.

To start with Kelsey who vowed never to love a cowboy, lives at the beach, my favorite place to be. So right off I loved it. Well she is going to her cousin’s beach wedding, also attending is her Great Aunt and her two of her friends, they love to match make. Just what Kelsey needs, she doesn’t want to be matched with anyone, she is doing great living at the beach and has a Bristo that is doing well. She doesn’t need anything to complicate her life.

This is such a great story. So worth the read, I just loved it. I rated it 5 stars and it is a clean book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Zondervan Fiction for letting me review this book.

What Goodreads says this book is about:
A year's worth of novellas from twelve inspirational romance authors. Happily ever after guaranteed.
Kelsey vowed never to love a cowboy again. But then she meets Brent.
After a cowboy broke her heart, Kelsey Wilcox traded in her boots for flip-flops and a bistro on the beautiful sandy beach of Corpus Christi. Two years later, still not believing in happy endings, she is about to endure a weekend of torture at her cousin's beach wedding. Not only will she be forced to watch yet another wedding, but her great-aunt and her two best friends---aptly nicknamed 'the matchmaking posse of Mule Hollow'---are coming to the wedding, and Kelsey is sure to be on their radar.
Brent Corbin has had his share of bad luck with women and isn't looking for love or looking forward to the weekend of wedding festivities as a groomsman for his friend. When he sees a commotion on the beach and what appears to be a mermaid in distress, he doesn't hesitate to dive to the rescue. His attention is instantly captured by the woman he's saved and it turns out they're part of the same wedding party. But the instant Kelsey spots his soaking wet boots she wants no part of him.
Thrown together through the weekend and with the meddlesome encouragement from the matchmakers, Brent is determined to pursue Kelsey and change her mind about cowboys. Sparks fly at this August wedding as Kelsey and Brent dance a rocky Texas two-step toward a beach wedding of their own

Book Review: Cherish Me, Cowboy by Alissa Callen (Montana Born Rodeo #2)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Cherish Me, Cowboy (Montana Born Rodeo #2)
By Alissa Callen

What does a working cowgirl Peyton Hollis do if she needs to save her Beargrass Hills Ranch? She is the only one who can save the ranch, she doesn’t have time for cowboys and anything else for that matter. She just wants to save her ranch.

Of course there is a man, a city-boy, Cordell Morgan, who has come to check out some land from her neighbor. He wants to bring some cattle there and wants to rent the land from the owner, well the rancher advises him to stay at the cowgirls’ ranch and help her out some.

Well I loved this story right from the start, great characters, great story, I didn’t want to put it down. The Author Alissa Callen did a wonderful job of keeping me, the reader engaged throughout the whole story.

This is the 2nd in a series of books. I love the way each book intertwines the other books.  You can feel the connection, but you don’t have to read in order or read them all. You can understand each book without each other.
This book is my favorite though, but I love all three of the books so far.

What Goodreads says the book is about:

Working cowgirl, Payton Hollis, has no time for hairdryers, heels and helplessness. She must save her home, Beargrass Hills Ranch. She also has no time for men. She already is boot-deep in blue-eyed cowboy trouble.

City-boy, Cordell Morgan, isn’t who he seems. His fancy suit and slow smile hide dark secrets. Secrets as to why his hands are callused, why he never stays around and why he has really come to Marietta, Montana.

Between a shrewd old rancher, a cantankerous rodeo horse and a stud bull called Trouble, Payton and Cordell have no chance to lead separate lives. No matter how much their futures may depend upon them doing so.

Can a sassy cowgirl lower her guard for a man who will soon be gone? And can a man who believes emotions are nothing but a liability take the ultimate risk?

Book Review: Tease Me, Cowboy (Montana Born Rodeo Book 1)

Tease Me, CowboyTease Me, Cowboy by Rachael Johns
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Montana Born Rodeo Series

Tease Me, Cowboy, #1
By Rachael Johns

This series is written by different authors, the first one is Tease Me, Cowboy, By Rachael Johns.

I started this series by reading the 2nd book in the series first, and thought wow I really like this series of books. So I then read the 3rd book, now I read the 1st book, and hopefully in the future will read the 4th book soon.
This book starts with Selah Davis, coming back to Marietta Montana to cover the Copper Mountain Rodeo and she meets up with her friends who she had grown up with.  She had left after high school for college then on to a journalist career in Seattle. While back, she runs into her high school sweet heart, Levi Monroe and she felt the feelings she had for him 10 years ago in high school as they never really finished their relationship.

I loved how the author built the characters and I felt emotional connected to them and wanted things to work the way we want them to. I loved the ending. I Can’t tell you, you will have to read for yourself. I also love how these series kind of bring events that are in the other books, but you don’t have to read the other books to know what is going on, you can read them as a stand-alone or read them all.

I am not familiar with these authors or even reading cowboy books, but I really enjoy the books. The first book has some swearing in it. The other 2 didn’t.  You don’t have to know anything about cowboys or rodeo’s to read these books. They are all fairly good. Just have a want to read a good romance book.

Here is what Amazon says the book is about:

Montana Born Rodeo Series

Selah Davis loves her life as a journalist in Seattle (or so she says) but on a rare trip home to Marietta to cover the Copper Mountain Rodeo, she confesses to her best friends over drinks that her one regret in life is not sleeping with her high school boyfriend, Levi Monroe. Into the bar walks Levi, also home for the rodeo. When her friends dare her to proposition him for a one night stand, she’s at first appalled… but the more she thinks about remedying her one regret, the less she can get him and their electric chemistry out of her head. Selah’s always been her parents’ good daughter. Would it hurt just for one night to be a little bit bad?
Levi Monroe is ready to settle back in Marietta and start his own rodeo school teaching others the techniques that have made him a star. He doesn’t want any distractions during his last rodeo where he aims to win All Around Cowboy, but when his high school sweetheart – the one woman he’s never been able to forget – comes along and offers to rewrite their history, it might just be an offer too good to refuse.
